Climb behind a roaring waterfall at Sapo. As you approach the waterfall you'll get a grand view of the falls, but you can also snap photos from the observation areas above and below the falls. The biggest attraction here is the path going behind the waterfall. Be prepared as the water comes down with a lot of force, and be sure to keep hold of the guide rope to stay safe on the slippery path. Wear a bathing suit and waterproof your belongings before going under, as you are sure to get wet. Using our custom trip planner, Canaima National Park attractions like Sapo can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Extremely nice and fun. You get to swim in the Carrrao River on the top and you get to walk behind the waterfall on the bottom. The trip here is included with most lodging packages and is worth it 100% the views and the experience are great. This advebture is appropriate for small children and older people. You spend less than 10 min in the Curiara. Keep in mind it is tropical weather, and in Canaima it can be sunny and rain 5 minutes later or vice versa, in our case the water was fresh not cold and rain was light and refreshing. Most people advised us to bring a waterproof poncho or similar, but we found it not to be necessary. Our camp provided a towel which we used after being under the waterfall, swimming and being rained on. Any sports shoes are helpful here, they highly recommend you take off your shoes and keep your socks on for grip. The rocks are mostly flat and easy to walk on.
