One of the largest fountains in the world, Buckingham Fountain was built in 1927. Taking its inspiration from the Latona Fountain at the Palace of Versailles, the attraction features an ornate Rococo style. Designed to represent Lake Michigan, each seahorse that decorates the fountain symbolizes its bordering states. Every hour on the hour for 20 minutes the fountain produces a water display, with the center jets shooting 45.7 m (150 ft) into the air. The fountain also features other colored light shows. • A beautiful fountain. Must see in Chicago. Plan to be there at the hour to see the central, high portion of the fountain go up!

  • (2001). This massive fountain is an amazing sight because of its size and the alternating sprinklers that are positioned just right. The waterfall-like sprinklers mimic the fountains design by providing volume with water. If you are or were a fan of the tv show Married With Children, the Buckingham Fountain is in the opening credits. Parking near by. Closer parking for a fee.
  • Review Date: June 23rd, 2012 “Love and Marriage, Love and Marriage, go together like a horse and carriage, this I tell ya brother, you can’t have one without the other…” If you have ever watched the classic show Married with Children, then you have seen Buckingham Fountain. The iconic fountain in the opening credits is located in Chicago, IL and it is quite easily accessible via the park there. Besides that, not much to say about it. It is a giant fountain in the middle of the park. I went during the day, so maybe they have some cool light shows at night? The area is nice and it was really cool to see an iconic landmark from a TV show in person. If you are in the area, you’ll be near Millennium Park, so check out Cloud Gate while you are in the area. (Edit: Buckingham Fountain is not in Millennium Park, like I previously thought. Whoops!)
