  • Couldn't hear the tour guide on the boat and quality of audio on TV presentation at the bottom was poor. Complained at the sales desk on the way out but was just told they sometimes use microphones.....  more

  • What a great tour! We absolutely love caves & caverns but never been through on a boat before. The tour guide absolutely made this experience excellent… he was so funny & full of knowledge.

  • A fascinating place to visit to explore some of the hidden local history of the Peak District. The tour takes place by boat, and hard hats are understandably required (especially for the taller traveller) as the ceilings in many places are low, and knocks to the head are likely. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, and engaging, and made the experience of traversing the tight confines of the cavern both interesting and diverting, which should be a reassurance to anyone who suffers from claustrophobia. Well worth a visit, though it's advisable to bring waterproof coats and boots.
  • Visited here after Mam tor. Fortunately managed to get a ticket available on the door for an afternoon trip. I also bought a parking ticket from the shop alternatively, you can use the machine across the road from the entrance. The parking fee was £3.50 on my visit and around £20 for the tour. The tour is guided and primarily by boat. Once you find a suitable hard hat, access to the boat is via a set of steep slippery steps. The tour lasts approximately an hour and follows a tunnel to the site of an underground waterfall. The guides are very friendly and provide lots of fun facts. The tunnels are very compact in places and the hardhats come in very handy. Something to consider if you are planning a visit. Fairly novel way to view an old lead mine.
