I went first time there and it was really pleasant experience. There was so many shops and it's like never seen before in such high volume.

The Dubai Gold Souk consists of a few streets next to the spice souk on the side of Dubai Creek (old town Deira). It's easy to find, there are many signs and maps, so in my opinion you can easily visit without a guide. Streets in the gold souk are wider than in the spice souk. Like in the other souks, know before you come that you will be constantly approached by shop owners and street vendors not only to buy gold, but also to buy counterfeit designer bags. Personally, this makes me uncomfortable. I take a long time to select jewellery for purchase and like to browse without being pressured or having to bargain. So we came here strictly as tourists. We didn't feel unsafe but we wish we would have had more time and "space" to take a look at some of the window displays which were really spectacular. We felt we had to keep moving to avoid being surrounded by pushy sellers, which was a pity. I had hoped to see the biggest gold ring in the world which is supposed to be displayed here, but we never found it. I was also hoping to look at bracelets, but ultimately I didn't trust myself to know what would be a genuinely good deal and passed on the opportunity. That said, I don't want to scare anyone off, the gold is truly worth seeing. Just know what to expect ahead of time.

Incredible amount of gold and a hell lot of sellers nearly dragging you off the streets to sell you anything from souvenirs to belly massage! Insane! Beautiful to see, however prices for the gold jewellery are nothing near to cheap. You can get cheaper souvenirs indeed, but you must stay very firm until you get to see the ones you really like and not fall for the first shop/ seller. Iโve got myself a pashmina as a bargain considering itโs pure cashmere. ๐ Here is the biggest ring from the world registered in the Guinness Book ๐!
