9 days in Hamburg, Billund & Amrum Itinerary

As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Hamburg is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of car and train. July in Hamburg sees daily highs of 27°C and lows of 15°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Tue) so you can go by car to Billund.

Billund centers around everything LEGGO, as the seat of the internationally renowed company's headquarters (and also home to the Billund airport, built by the LEGGO company).

You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like LEGOLAND Billund and Givskud Zoo Zootopia. Change things up with these side-trips from Billund: Ribe (Ribe Vikinge Center & Ribe Domkirke), Rovfugleshow (in Them) and Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum (in Herning). There's still lots to do: let the kids burn off some steam at LEGO House, walk around Skulpturpark, make a splash at Lalandia, and examine the collection at Teddy Bear Art Museum.

Traveling by car from Hamburg to Billund takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or fly. In July in Billund, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 13°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Sat) early enough to drive to Amrum.

Bring the kids along to Amrumer Strand and Dr. Carl Haberlin Friesenmuseum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Amrum: Robbenzentrum Fohr (in Wyk auf Foehr) and Museum Kunst der Westkueste (West Coast Art Museum) (in Foehr).

Traveling by car from Billund to Amrum takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Traveling from Billund in July, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 18°C in Amrum. On the 19th (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
