Durango — 6 nights

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Durango: Four Corners Monument (in Teec Nos Pos), Cliff Palace (in Mesa Verde National Park) and Million Dollar Highway (in Silverton). There's still lots to do: head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, make a trip to Historic Downtown Durango, let little ones run wild at Santa Rita Park, and fly down the slopes at Purgatory Resort.
