Surrounded by mountain ranges and boasting a well-preserved city center, Salzburg melds culture and history.
Popular historic sites such as Fortress Hohensalzburg and Erlebnisburg Hohenwerfen are in your itinerary. Discover out-of-the-way places like Old City Hall (Altes Rathaus) and Franziskanerkirche. Change things up with a short trip to Gollinger Wasserfall in Golling an der Salzach (about 34 minutes away). There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Salzburg Cathedral, contemplate the long history of Kapitelplatz & Kapitelschwemme, take in the spiritual surroundings of Nonnberg Convent, and get a taste of the local shopping with Getreidegasse.
