The capital of the island of Madeira for more than 500 years, Funchal represents a laid-back city made popular by its historical sites and climate.
Step out of Funchal to go to Canical and see Ponta de Sao Lourenco, which is approximately 36 minutes away. Spend the 22nd (Wed) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. The adventure continues: see Off-Road Tours, scramble along the landscape with a canyoning and rapelling tour, stroll around Parque de Santa Catarina, and admire the natural beauty at Monte Palace Madeira.
