Rome — 6 nights

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Take a break from the city and head to Colle del Gianicolo and Riserva Naturale Monte Soratte. You'll explore and learn at Vatican Museums and Musei Capitolini. Take a break from Rome with a short trip to Riva di Polline in Trevignano Romano, about 48 minutes away. There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Trastevere, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Peter's Basilica, explore the ancient world of Palatine Hill, and admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In February, daily temperatures in Rome can reach 57°F, while at night they dip to 41°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
