Birmingham — 6 nights
City of a Thousand Trades
Britain's second-largest city, Birmingham was known as the City of a Thousand Trades and the Workshop of the World in the Victorian era. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Royal Air Force Museum Midlands and Stokesay Castle. Do some cultural sightseeing at Cotswold Motoring Museum and Winterbourne House and Garden. Get out of town with these interesting Birmingham side-trips: Charnwood Forest Alpacas (in Boundary), Gladstone Pottery Museum (in Longton) and Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (in Sutton Cheney). Next up on the itinerary: get engrossed in the history at Pen Museum, see the interesting displays at Coffin Works, don't miss a visit to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Martin in the Bull Ring.
