City of Azaleas

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Step out of Taipei to go to Ruifang and see Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street), which is approximately 46 minutes away. There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at National Palace Museum, appreciate the history behind National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, buy something for everyone on your list at Taipei 101, and visit Ximending.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Taipei is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. The time zone difference moving from Indochina Time (ICT) to Taipei Standard Time (CST) is 1 hour. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Ho Chi Minh City in April: high temperatures in Taipei hover around 30°C and lows are around 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Mon) to allow time to take a train to Taichung.

Cultural City

Known for its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Mon): identify plant and animal life at Gaomei Wetland, wander the streets of Rainbow Village Taichung, then look for gifts at Mark Taiwan, and finally get outside with Dakeng No.2 Trail.

You can take a train from Taipei to Taichung in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. May in Taichung sees daily highs of 34°C and lows of 26°C at night. You'll have a few hours on the 2nd (Tue) to wrap things up before traveling to Kaohsiung.

Harbor City

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Tue): see the interesting displays at Chimei Museum and then make a trip to The Dome of Light. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the exciting artwork at The Pier-2 Art Centre, then make a trip to Dragon Tiger Tower, and then step off the mainland to explore Cijin Island.

Take a train from Taichung to Kaohsiung in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in May, and nighttime lows around 29°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Wed) to allow enough time to fly back home.
