Banjul, officially the City of Banjul and formerly known as Bathurst, is the capital of The Gambia and is in a division of the same name. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Fort James Island and Fort Bullen. Get some historical perspective at Roman Catholic Cathedral and National Museum. Take a break from Banjul with a short trip to Jufureh in North Bank Division, about 44 minutes away. Spend the 8th (Thu) exploring nature at River Gambia National Park. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Katchikally Crocodile Pool, admire all the interesting features of Arch 22, browse the eclectic array of goods at Albert Market, and see what you can catch with a fishing tour.
