Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Change things up with these side-trips from Reykjavik: Blue Lagoon (in Grindavik), Viking World (in Keflavik) and Thingvellir (Galgaklettur & Thingvellir National Park). Spend the 12th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Höfn or Höfn í Hornafirði is an Icelandic fishing town in the southeastern part of the country. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hofn: Flaajokull Glacier (in Skaftafell) and Jokulsarlon (Glacier Lagoon & Fellsfjara).
