Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
On the 2nd (Tue), test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, make a trip to Shoes on the Danube Bank, get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, then contemplate the long history of Matthias Church, and finally make a trip to Fisherman's Bastion. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: steep yourself in history at Széchenyi Thermal Bath, don't miss a visit to Heroes' Square, then examine the collection at House of Terror Museum, then pause for some serene contemplation at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), and finally snap pictures at Szechenyi Lanchid.

Lucknow, India to Budapest is an approximately 16-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 4.5 hours traveling from Lucknow to Budapest. Expect much colder temperatures when traveling from Lucknow in May; daily highs in Budapest reach 25°C and lows reach 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Wed) to allow time to drive to Vienna.
