Pearl of the Adriatic

Take a break from the city and head to Lokrum Island and Kayaking & Canoeing. Kids will enjoy Old Town and Upper Corner Tower Foundry Museum. Go for a jaunt from Dubrovnik to Mljet Island to see Mljet National Park about 2h 15 min away. There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Walls of Dubrovnik, don't miss a visit to Stradun, take in the views from Franjo Tudman Bridge, and take a stroll through Cavtat Old Town.

Barcelona, Spain to Dubrovnik is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. In August, daily temperatures in Dubrovnik can reach 34°C, while at night they dip to 24°C. On the 6th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can ride a ferry to Hvar.

Escape the urban bustle at Punta Rata Beach and Marjan Park. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Diocletian's Palace and Old Split. Go for a jaunt from Split to Brela to see Brela Beach about 1 hour away. There's still lots to do: admire the striking features of Cathedral of Saint Domnius and see the interesting displays at Froggyland.
