Find out more about Geneva's rich history at Maison Tavel. Built in the 12th century by the wealthy Maison family, the house represents one of the oldest in the city and today contains a free museum. Explore the several floors full of displays, artifacts, and other objects relating to the city's history through the years, such as tapestries, traditional furnishings, and kitchen objects. On the first floor, watch the short film that showcases Geneva's development from ancient into modern times, available in English, French, and German. Visit the attic to view the impressive scale model of the city from the late 1800's, when it still boasted walls and fortifications. It was totally free museum showing the history and culture of the region. A museum inside a big villa of a family that lived there during 13th to 16th century and I felt like it was a maze :)) Worth the visit.

Pretty good museum and it was interesting to learn more about Switzerland living and style. The pamphlet was informational (in English). But the Izi travel app does have a feature)tour and one can listen to the audio tour guide while walking around the facility. I wish some of the exhibitions were easier to find. Somehow today was free (Saturday). I did have the Geneva pass that I was ready to use though.
