The mineral-rich soil of La Fageda d'en Jorda comes from a volcanic eruption that covered the area millennia ago. This disaster gave birth to new life, and now the nature reserve is home to an abundance of tree species. Hiking trails are marked and include rough wooden steps in steeper areas, but even with small inclines, the walks are low impact. Along the 1.5 km (0.93 mi) walk, you may come across a monolithic stone with an inscription of poetry at the base by Joan Maragall, a notable Spanish poet. It's been a great day, truely. Did a loop hike and visited 2 volcanoes, got to have lunch in the crater, by the small chapel that for some reason is there. 10-year-old was able to keep pretty well. The Fageda woods r unbelievable, the greenest ever!

A great way to spend a hot afternoon in the shadow. Not suitable for a picnic or sit-down, it's mostly good for a walk. Dogs need to be leashed
