Stand under the high, granite arches of Puerta de Alcala, one of Madrid’s most iconic landmarks. Built by Carlos III in 1778, the gate stands at 19.5 m (64 ft) and features elegant Baroque architecture adorned with decorative carvings. Look for the lion’s head that hangs above each of the three arches. Stand back to admire the statues on top of the gate representing the four cardinal virtues.     Nice gate to see once you walk by. Surroundings have many restaurants and pubs that might be interesting. Nothing compared to Paris or Berlin and their "gates"..

    Super sick, walking to this and the sights in the park is definitely a bit of exercise but I wouldn't miss them. This was a more unique structure than many others with the 3 arches and it's pretty stunning in scale. Also, there are convenient spots for photos with it (for the Instagrammers)

    Save Mariupol! Save people! They are sitting in basements without food and water, the Russian military has almost destroyed the city, but the people are still alive! so many still alive! Take to the streets of your city, turn to your government! This is genocide!
