Basilica de San Juan de Dios
Basilica de San Juan de Dios is the spiritual center of the St John of God order, and an ideal example of the Granada Baroque architectural style. Walk around the church to see the towers and facade before entering to view the ornately decorated interior. As you explore, you will see elaborately decorated domes and chapels, with walls covered in artwork, inlaid mirrors, and a wealth of gilded furnishings. Make your way to the sacristy and see a museum-like collection of 62 frames and mirrors, or climb up to the dressing room to a gallery of art pieces. Wander into the post-chapel and see precious objects that have survived the numerous lootings that the church has undergone, then view the gold adornments of the Camarín reliquary. If you prefer a more religious experience, Sunday masses are still held. I don’t think I have ever entered a basilica from behind the altar. The sight as you enter, is somewhat breathtaking, so ornate and so much gold! The theme continues all the way around the chapel...

This is a don't miss stop. The church is beautiful even if it is a little gawdy. The audio guide was excellent, and would be impossible to understand everything without it. I have been in hundreds of European churches and this is one of the most interesting. You are allowed up to the second level, which was filled with more treasures including bones and skulls of various priests. This is a don't miss stop in Granada.

I was blown away with the art and the precious artifacts here. Absolutely breathtaking when you first walk in there and Gods presence was strong.so beautiful, so exquisite the art they have there. A place to reflect and contemplate in pure silence. Lots to see and absolutely mind blowing. Worth a visit
