King James I signed the Treaty of Capdepera at Castell de Capdepera, giving this castle major historic significance for the Balearic archipelago. Construction began in 310 CE, but what you see today was built on the remains of a Muslim village in the 14th century. Inside the main stone structures are a small museum with a scale model of the fortress, and an intact chapel that is still used as a place of worship. Don your walking shoes to wander the castle grounds in search of alcoves and rooms that once housed soldiers and servants. Look out over the sea and town from one of the many towers or walls. Put Castell de Capdepera on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Capdepera route planner.

  • A nice piece of history in North-East of Mallorca. There is a small museum and a church inside which you can also visit. The terrace above the church offers great views over Capdepera tiled rooftops.....  more

  • Very cool place, cheap entry fee. Worth a visit. Would wish for better information around the place. There is a bigger building in the middle where general history over the island is explained, but other than that, not much is covered. Gotta have a good amount imagination to figure out how everything looked there on the past.
  • get ready for stepping up. Ticket 3€ I did not get in.
