Create an itinerary including Church of St. Clement of Ohrid
The largest Orthodox temple in Macedonia, Church of St. Clement of Ohrid draws attention for its unusual and somewhat robust exterior design: a rotunda made exclusively of domes and arches. The church was built over the course of 18 years, finally finished in 1990. A huge chandelier hanging from the dome dominates the interior with more than 400 light bulbs. See the painting of Jesus surrounded by seated prophets in the dome. The large windows are lined with acrylic crystal to keep out bright sunlight. Notice the round fountain in front of the church, a gift from the Islamic community. Make Church of St. Clement of Ohrid a part of your Skopje vacation plans using our Skopje sightseeing planner.

  • Definitely one of the most unique churches I have seen in all of the Balkan countries. The multiple circular domes and the green colors gives it all its character.

  • I have visited many churches before, but this church really impressed me a lot. Because of churche' s ambiance, I don't know how, I prayed for my existential pangs. Generally, it is easy to get there. You can go to there about ten or thirteen minutes for a walk from city square. The interior design is so beautiful, I definitely recommend you to see it.
  • It is so beautiful! This is my first experience with Orthodox architecture but I have to say that I love it! It is free to enter and take photos. The vibe there is so divine and religious, which includes a lot of colorful and ancient paintings about stories in Bible.
