Create an itinerary including Saint Climent of Ohrid
Overlooking Lake Ohrid from its hilltop vantage point, represents one of Macedonia's most important monasteries and one of the first centers of Slavic language. Originally built in the 9th century, the church has undergone numerous renovations and reconstructions, including a long period where it functioned as a mosque. Visit the complex, set within a group of archaeological sites, and explore the interior, keeping your eyes open for the transparent floor panels that reveal original foundations underneath. As your wander within, keep in mind that you are following in the footsteps of Saint Clement himself, who died here in 916, as well as those of Cyril and Methodius, the founders of the Slavic Cyrillic alphabet. • Worth visiting this place, it is near a beautiful forrest and the fortress, and it is free. If you want to enter the church you need to pay an admission fee. Beautiful architecture, fantastic view. I recommend sitting for a while behind the church and take a look at the lake.
  • Loved this beautiful church that has so much history! Definitely a must see in Ohrid. I'm greatful for the local guide that explained the whole history of the place in French. She was a blessing.
