Levada Caldeirao Verde, Santana

Walk without ups and downs, 5h in total (going and back on the same route). Doable for families but maybe not the whole way. There are waterfalls and tunnels. The 3rd tunnel is quite tricky because there is a lot of water on the floor but if you keep left and walk on the stones you are going to be fine. Bring comfy shoes, a waterproof jacket, a source of light (I went with my phone flashlight) and water. The parking is 3€/day, you pay near the coffee shop with cash only.

One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on! The first part is relatively easy as the path along the Levada is flat. The second part is more strenuous with a section containing a lot of stairs but worth it to see two more beautiful waterfalls. Bring a proper torch, the tunnels are too dark for phone torches!
