Create an itinerary including Ponte de Dom Luis I
Traverse the iconic Ponte de Dom Luis I along its pedestrian pathway for beautiful views of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. When it was completed in 1886, this 172 m (564 ft) bridge was the longest of its kind in the world. Now the two-hinged, double-deck, arched steel bridge is beloved for the spectacular vantage points it offers. The bridge is comprised of a lower section for cars and an upper section for a light rail and pedestrians. If you walk across the bridge, you can take photos from the high above the Douro River. • The view on the bridge is spectacular. You can easily see both sides of the river banks. Must go and visit.

  • We walked across both the top and bottom of the bridge. The bottom is currently under construction and views are very limited. The top is amazing. There is a dedicated path for just walkers...

  • It’s one of most beautiful locations in Porto hence a must visit. Take a walk on the bridge and do a cable car, costs €6 per ticket and have a nice walk along the river with plenty of options to eat and drink. You can come back through the cable car by buying a return ticket for €9. It becomes really beautiful during the sunset time.
  • This is the most beautiful attraction in Porto. When you walk along the top of the bridge, the height seems prohibitive, the view of the city on the river and the trams that rush past is wonderful. The only moment the bridge is partially under reconstruction now, and almost half of the lower part is covered with building films.
