Create an itinerary including Praia da Nazare
Big waves and wide sandy swaths make Praia da Nazare one of the most popular spots along the country's Atlantic coastline. Due to its geography and strong ocean currents, this beach often sees monster breakers in excess of 20 m (78 ft), a huge draw for some of the world's top surfers. In addition to record-breaking waves, the beach offers easy access to the nearby town of Nazare, a busy tourist resort packed with trendy shops and award-winning seafood restaurants. The current is extremely strong here, even on calm days, so watch out for the really big swells, and keep an eye on the weakest swimmers in your party. • I live in beautiful Oahu, home of many international surf meets. I'm glad our stop in Nazare allowed me to see the iconic beach where the monstrous waves of over 90 feet bring world-class surfers...

  • Pleasant walks along the promenade, or down to the sea (chilly water!) Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to discover. Supermarkets (Mini-Preco, SPAR etc..) in the town centre

  • I love the sand here! Coarse but great to lay on. Doesn't stick much to clothes or skin. Flags to indicate when safe or not to swim. Great place to do beach paddle game. Has beach soccer areas. Surfing
  • The long stretch of beach and spotless sands are a good way of exercising or relaxing. The marina is a hub of activity and the bustling masses make this place come alive in summer and its a quiet haven in the winter months. The cafes and restaurants offer a fine choice of cuisine. The sunsets here are breath taking.
