Create an itinerary including Poca Da Dona Beija
Take a break from your tour of Sao Miguel with a relaxing swim at Poca Da Dona Beija, a small spa featuring three natural pools of iron-rich water known for its therapeutic properties. Fed by a series of hot springs, the small pools remain at about 39 C (102 F), an ideal temperature for soothing tense muscles and easing pains associated with chronic rheumatism. On-site facilities include restrooms, showers, and changing rooms, as well as a small gift shop selling handmade jewelry. Keep in mind that the yellowish water can leave stains on your clothes, so wear an old bathing suit for your swim. • We went twice at night and it was very relaxing. We tried all of the pools for the different views. We didn’t pay for the lockers, we just kept our belongings in the free baskets and kept them in...

  • My favorite hot springs on the island. Plan outside of busy hours as this one is popular year round. Spring temperature 28 degrees, pools 39 - it would be great to have also something between as 39 is a bit too much for a longer stay. Paid hot showers (1eur coins, cold are free). Clean facilities and a small shop with handmade souvenirs and soft drinks. You can also borrow towels and a locker. The water is high in iron so try to avoid coming in white / light colored swimsuit
  • Best thermal bath on the island. Try to be there as soon as it opens cause that way your entrance won’t be conditioned by other people having to leave before you can enter. It’s also really nice in the evening when they turn on the lights in the pools.
