Boca do Inferno, or "The Mouth of Hell," features a natural rock arch with a cave that is known for sucking in ocean waves and shooting water out the top. Nestled in a dramatic environment of eroded cliffs and enormous waves, the site is a well-known photography spot. You can easily reach it by foot, and then follow stairs and bridges around it to get a better view or climb down to the cave if the ocean is calm. Be aware, however, that locals advise against climbing due to the sharp rocks. A nice spot for a bit of photography. The land had made way for the sea coming inward and it looks like an open mouth.

Guarded by countless laughing seagulls, the „Mouth Of Hell“ is one of the most beautiful landmarks near Lisbon. Completely designed by nature with its infallible hand, the area is presenting itself with a rough charm which is created when the sea and the wind as bride and groom come together to meet their best man, the rocks of a coast line. Over millions of years the natural forces created the shapes one can see today. The waves keeping on coming restless and powerful, pressing through the mouth into the basin you’re looking into when standing on the edge of the cliff. When you get lucky, the weather will be just fine. With a deeply blue sky of a color you will find nowhere else around the world. And bright sunshine, which lets the foaming water look like dusted with countless little gems. Look and take in this endlessness of the ocean. Breathe deeply and get a sense of what it is like to inhale the sunlight. Then close your eyes. And just listen: what the flooding and ebbing waves got to tell you. Whatever it may be, the seagulls will keep on laughing. At all of it.

This place is quite something ... it's raw, natural beauty is stunning. Combined with the fact that historically many people have lost their lives there for various reasons, makes this place mystic and somewhat eerie. Definitely worth the trip as it is simply beautiful. If you take a walk 500m north from there, you'll find a little cartagena seeking the best hot dogs you've ever had!!!
