See the monument and shrine Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei, a large cement statue of Christ built to express gratitude for protection during World War II. Completed in 1969, the statue stands 110 m (360 ft) on an isolated clifftop overlooking Lisbon, 133 m (436 ft) above sea level. The top section of the monument is a 28 m (92 ft) representation of Christ. From the base, you can view a panorama of the city, with the Tagus River and an enormous bridge over it. Check out the library, chapel, and a collection of relics inside the monument. • Stunning views of central Lisboa. The statue will make you think twice about life! Well worth a visit but you will need to cross the Ponte 25 de abril bridge if visiting from northern Lisboa.

  • A must-see of the city. You can see the whole city across the river. Free outside, some fee to the top.

  • If you visit Lisbon must take ride across bridge and what you see from here will be breathtaking. Monument and view from there is best. Ticket to go up but but this is must. Best photo opportunity here.
  • A fun stop to make when visiting Lisbon. Admission is 6 euros for adults and 3 euros for children. They only take cash and there is no need to buy tickets in advance. There is a quick elevator ride which takes you near the top. You then climb two flights of stairs to reach the observation deck which has some amazing views. Upon leaving the observation deck you literally must exit through a gift shop just underneath the statue. There are at least two chapels on site.
