Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei, Almada

See the monument and shrine Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei, a large cement statue of Christ built to express gratitude for protection during World War II. Completed in 1969, the statue stands 110 m (360 ft) on an isolated clifftop overlooking Lisbon, 133 m (436 ft) above sea level. The top section of the monument is a 28 m (92 ft) representation of Christ. From the base, you can view a panorama of the city, with the Tagus River and an enormous bridge over it.
