A dramatic backdrop to a small coastal town, Mt Tapyas serves as a popular viewpoint and offers sweeping panoramas over the surrounding islands. Follow the signs from town and begin the trek up the marked pathways, which feature paved stairways and trails. Climb the approximately 700 steps to the top and you'll find the mountain's summit accented by a giant metal cross. From there, you' can enjoy unobstructed views of the island, the bay, and the rugged coastline, dense with jungle vegetation. • 720 Steps but well worth it - definitely worth the walk up for a sunset photo and a happy hour drink. Don't do through the day way too hot

  • Don't go when you tired. It is a good work out, don't go during hot part of the day. View is awesome and our guide took all sorts of family pics for us.

  • Great view of the sunrise/sunset from up here! There are 700 steps to reach the top, with each 100 steps labeled so that you know how far you have left to go. Several rest stops along the way up with shade to catch your breath, if needed. If you forgot your water by chance, don’t fret as there are several vendors on the way up selling water and other trinkets. Plenty of 3-wheelers awaiting you at the base to offer rides back into town - we paid 25 pesos per person for a ride back to our hotel, though I’m sure this included a “foreigner tax” which we were fine to pay.
  • Perfect spot to witness the sunset but the trail has a dead end. If you plan to do the hiking, you need to allot an ample time to go back from the top to starting point before the sun sets, or else you are going to end up risking your life with the desencend from a stiff or almost vertical cliff, carved by recent human activity on the opposite site of the route.
