Admire the oldest Christian image in the Philippines, and pay tribute to a revered patron saint of Cebu City at Basilica del Santo Nino, the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country. Founded in 1565 and originally built from wood, the church houses a 30 cm (12 in) tall statue of Jesus as a child, adorned in fantastic luxurious robes and presented to a local queen by Magellan as a baptismal gift. A cradle of Christianity in the East recognized by the Pope in 1965, the church, ruined three times in fires, has been restored, and also survived a recent earthquake. Thousands of visitors come here to see the wooden figure of baby Jesus made by Flemish artists. • This place has incredible energy. We loved it! If you are ever in Cebu, make this your 1st or 2nd stop! Make sure you take time to offer prayers at Magellan's Cross!

  • Beautiful church. It's less crowded now after the pandemic. One of the top places that tourists visited when they come to cebu.

  • We made sure that we can attend the Sunday mass here before we travel back to Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Thanks to those people who answered my queries regarding the schedule of Sunday mass. We took photos and attended mass as well. I'm happy that my family was with me. God bless us all!
  • A nice place to reflect at when you feel disconnected to yhe power above, or if you are a history geek like me, or if you study architecture in the PI You will feel the age of this place. Literally felt like time travelling. They (church) was able to maintain how it looks like and how it felt to be at church.
