Create an itinerary including Casa de la Independencia
Visit the historically significant Casa de la Independencia, where emancipation from Spain was planned and announced in 1811. The colonial-era house dates back to 1772 and was used to host secret meetings of conspirators against the Spanish government. Since 1965, the building serves as a museum and displays furniture and other artifacts from the period. View portraits of the movement's leaders, observe the large mural in the courtyard, or walk through the "Historical Alley," where a group of patriots gathered before walking to the governor's house to claim independence. • My guide took me there for an hour, and debriefed me on the history of Asunción. There were so many artifacts there, as well as a ton of Paraguay historical significance.

  • Where to start? I had JESÚS as my guide (I am putting it in capital letters because you really need to ask to have him as your guide) and not only he has super deep knowledge of the history if Paraguay but he is also passionate about it and you can see it in his eyes. He answered every single question I asked and he increased my knowledge of Paraguay history by 10x. Definetly having him as my guide meant that I really enjoyed touring around the museum. Thank you Jesús!
  • I really enjoyed Casa de la independencia as I really like Spanish culture and Heritage many interesting artifacts that reminded me of Spain in the Conquistadors I would definitely recommend if you've never been there before. It is a bit small but an interesting insight to how the original Paraguay was
