Pay tribute to the largest movement of motorized troops in the history of warfare at Zaisan Memorial, a monumental concrete sculpture perched on the top of a hill. A Soviet T34 tank mounted on a concrete pedestal commemorates the efforts of the World War II Mongolia People's Tank Brigade, which covered the distance from Moscow to Berlin. At the 360-degree observation deck, a concrete memorial in the shape of a colossal proletarian flag towers over a large curved mural depicting friendship between the peoples of the USSR and Mongolia. Quite a hike up the stairs to the monument. The mosaic images celebrating the long relationship between Mongolia and the USSR are well done. From the hilltop is a great view of Ulaanbaatar.
