Trip Planner: Asia / Mongolia / Omnogovi Province / Flaming Cliffs
The Flaming Cliffs site (also known as Bayanzag (Chinese: 巴彥扎格), Bain-Dzak or Bayn Dzak) (Mongolian: Баянзаг rich in saxaul), with the alternative Mongolian name of Mongolian: Улаан Эрэг (red cliffs), is a region of the Gobi Desert in the Ömnögovi Province of Mongolia, in which important fossil finds have been made. It was given this name by American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews, who visited in the 1920s. The area is most famous for yielding the first discovery of dinosaur eggs. Other finds in the area include specimens of Velociraptor and eutherian mammals. It exposes rocks of the Djadochta Formation. It is illegal to remove fossils from the area without appropriate permits. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Flaming Cliffs and many more Dalanzadgad attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Dalanzadgad day trip planning website.
The nickname refers to the red or orange color of the sandstone cliffs (especially at a sunset),.

Amazing place for photography especially during sunset when the cliffs turn blazing red At night this place is a star gazing spectacular
There is just the cliff where dinosaur eggs were first found in 1920s followed by a few excavation expeditions to uncover more dinosaur fossils. Stayed here for the night in this vast desert with an exactly feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. Dramatic cloud make the place look really out of this world. Amazing spot for sunset photography. But wind was extremely strong, so got to hold down that tripod with weights.
