Built from clay, Murzuq Castle dates back to 1310 CE. Once the center of Sultan, the castle sits stragegically on the top of a hill to defend itself. Stacked clay bricks form a path to the castle and are part of its walls. At the top, you'll find panoramic views of the city. A palm forest greets you as you step out from the huge walls of the castle, and you can view an old mosque right next door.
