Built in the first century CE, Arena di Verona--one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters--has served as an opera venue since 1913. Thanks to the amphitheater's incredible acoustics, electronic microphones were not used here they were finally installed as a sound reinforcement system in 2011. The arena has hosted Alicia Keys, The Who, and Pearl Jam, as well as some of the world's most noteworthy conductors and opera singers. Sitting in the stands, you'll be transported back to Roman times when more than 30,000 people filled the seats to watch shows and games. Really cool. They could definitely charge less for the experience as the 10 Euro seems a bit high for this self guided tour of the place. The arena is fully intact and the original seating is still there from ages ago. Many of the internal areas are blocked off . But your still free to walk and use practically all entrances to the arena inside. The view from the top is beautiful and a great photo opportunity. If your in Verona definitely pay this place a visit .

I was very surprised and impressed with this Arena and enjoyed the experience more than the Colosseum in Rome. It’s older than the Rome Colosseum, cheaper to get into and you can wander as long as you’d like inside to enjoy the remains of this almost 2000 year old site. Well worth the admission price. The ticket line was long but it’s worth the wait. I would love to come back and see a concert or show inside someday.
