Built in 1797 as a summer retreat for the aristocracy, and named for an elm that once stood at the heart of the gardens, Villa Olmo is now property of the municipality of Como. Neoclassical in style, the villa is only open during exhibitions, though the lakeside gardens are open to the public at all times. Enjoy a drink at the open-air bar in the garden, or relax on the lawns. Check online to see the schedule of events and exhibits. Only about 2 km (1.3 mi) from the heart of Como, it is an easy walk along the lake to get to the villa. Beautiful neoclassical villa (construction started in 1797) with a nice garden and statues. Its name comes from an old Elm tree (Olmo in Italian) that was in the area of the building. Today the Villa belongs to the city of Colo and hosts expositions. The area in front of the Villa has a little shore where the swans rest. Beautiful to see. You can park your car just outside the villa and start your walk along the lake until city center. It’s a 25 minute enjoyable walk.

The garden is awesome. Do t waste your money to go through the museum. It cost us $14 and it took 5 minutes. The building would probably be Beutiful if they opened more than 3 rooms🙄
