  • Had extra time and decided to drive the 25-ish minutes from Westport to see this museum. Very glad we did. The introductory video is very well done, explaining what life in Ireland, mostly post...

  • A fantastic resource, for anyone with an interest in the social history of Ireland between 1850-1950s. There are authentic details, for example farm and fishing implements, and the various trades...

  • Loved this museum. It's like stepping back in time. So much information to absorb. I could have spent ages there. It is more suitable for adults and older children I feel as you can't touch anything. The grounds are immaculate, you could have a picnic on the lawn if the weather is warm.
  • Superb place! Children loved it, lots to do outside and there are treasure hunt activities in the museum. Staff helpful, museum itself, very clean. There is a lift here for those with wheelchairs or problem with stairs, so you can enjoy all levels at ease. Toilets are also accessible. Few picnic tables on site as well as cafeteria. Good choice of souvenirs. Museum is for free. Highly recommend as it was very educational and fun day for the group.
