Enter a sacred cave under five ancient bunyan trees at Sita Gumpha, a popular Hindu shrine near Nashik. A very narrow staircase leads you down into the cavern, believed to be the place from which the legendary King Ravan abducted Lord Rama’s wife, Sita. The cave has a shiva linga worshiped by Sita, and statues of Ram, Lakshman, and Sita can also be seen in the cave, which lies 9.4 km (5.8 mi) from Nashik Railway Station.
