  • Took one of thr superjeep tours to visit this Thorsmork. There are many rivers to cross , some easier than others. I would recommend to take a tour as these river crossing could get dangerous if it rains. Rentals generally dont cover river crossings. Many canyons to hike, waterfalls to see, mountains to hike in Thorsmork. Amazing views. Especially loved the glacier with the black ash called Gigjokull. Loved the black, white and blue colors. We also hiked Valahnukur. Takea round 2 hours in total( to go top and get back down). The views from the top are amazing. Once you finish hiking , you can then drive further down to the last point in Theorsmork called Basar. You could even rent cabins at Basar. There is a tiny shop where you can buy food , drinks. There were a few picnics tables there where we had our lunch and drove back.
  • Stunningly lush mountains and glacial moraine to hike around in and explore. You can quickly find yourself completely alone with the natural beauty. Took a bus from the Hvolsvolur N1.
