  • A fascinating history of Iceland from the first settlers to today. Learned a lot and the museum was really well laid out - much bigger than it initially seems as it just keeps going through and up...

  • Fantastic experience. We were lucky enough to get there at 11AM today and join the guided tour delivered by an excellent local guide who was very knowledgeable on the history of Reykjavik. Presentation skills spot on and very engaging, one of the best tours I've been on. Throughout the tour of the museum we learnt much about the early Viking settlers and how Reykjavik became what it is today. The museum is an excavation of one of the first buildings built here and upstairs there is another building that is from slightly more modern times when Reykjavik was industrialised and started to import and export goods. Lots more to see in the museum as well as relics and stories from the Vikings in the area. Definitely recommend.
  • Nice, but a little small and short. It is interesting to get some background on how Iceland was settled in the old times, but even though we read everything, we came through there quite quickly.
