Create an itinerary including Fort George
Head uphill to Fort George, a historical citadel overlooking the island nation's capital. Built by the French between 1705 and 1710, the fort has had a role in regional and domestic conflicts, including the Seven Years' War and the Grenadian Revolution. Today, the fort still shows damage caused by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, though the early 18th-century masonry left standing remains impressive and worth the trip. Another incentive: the panoramic views from the top of the volcanic hill. To visit Fort George and other attractions in St. George's, use our St. George's tour itinerary planner.

  • A historical site with a dark past, Fort George had the scenery I was looking for. You can see all of the capital, St. George as well as, the ocean front vividly. I loved it! I was able to get some really nice shots with my family. It costed me US$2 per person to visit and it was worth it.
  • While it does have one of the best views of St. George, the fort itself is barren and lacking. There are some cool cannons and buildings, but there really isn't much to look at. Entry fee is low, but an unofficial tour guide can offer some insight/history. Best to come here just for the views.
