Schloss Belvedere, Weimar

In 1724, Johann August Richter and Gottfried Heinrich Krohne designed the Schloss Belvedere as a pleasure house and summer residence for Duke Ernst August of Saxe-Weimar. In the gardens, updated in the English landscape style in 1811, elegant pavilions flank the chateau's entrance. The plaster-relief interior houses 18th-century porcelain, faïence, paintings, and furniture belonging to the art collections of Weimar. Stroll through the recently restored festive hall and silver salon, and journey back in time to the storied house parties of the mid-18th century.
