Create an itinerary including Goethe National Museum
Founded in 1885 through the will of Johann Wolfgang von Goëthe's last heir, Goethe National Museum is a museum complex that includes the great writer's former residence. You'll tour the rooms where Goëthe and his wife, Christiane, lived, including the study and the library where Goëthe conducted his work. The couple's private art collection is displayed in some of the rooms, and their inspiring garden is still tended for visitors to enjoy. Next to the house, a museum with Goëthe's prolific work includes more than 2,000 drawings penned by the writer. Take a look at our Weimar trip builder site to schedule your visit to Goethe National Museum and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • This walk through the well preserved gem of Goethe's Whonhaus is truly spectacular. Coming to the attraction we had just read the Humboldt biography with where you read about the deep influence...

  • Such an enriching experience! Allocate at least 2.5h (towards 3) for the house and museum and take an audio guide, it has the optimal level of information (in my opinion :D)! Check for special offers before going: currently, the 3rd Sunday in a month is free from 14.00.
  • It is not only the house but also the exhibitiin what is worth seeing
