Trip Planner: Europe / Germany / Saxony-Anhalt / Halle (Saale) / Landesmuseum fuer Vorgeschichte Halle
Don't miss a chance to see some of the most important archeological finds of the past century at Landesmuseum fuer Vorgeschichte Halle, featuring exhibits designed to engage and intrigue visitors of all ages. Founded in 1825, the museum contains a collection of nearly 15 million items. The most notable exhibit is the world-famous Nebra sky disk, the world's oldest concrete depiction of cosmic phenomena, which dates to about 1600 BCE. The bronze disk's inlaid symbols are generally interpreted as a sun or full moon, a lunar crescent, and stars. Explore this and many of the museum's other permanent exhibits, which are arranged chronologically from the Stone Age to the Early Bronze Age, on your own or as part of a guided tour. Either way, be sure to see the displays of the ancient Eulau family graves and the Hornhausen rider stele. Great experience. A typical traditional museum where the visitor is a passive observer. The only thing personal in Museum have to think about is the fact that some visitors are not German speakers...

Fantastically arranged historic artifacts. The museum is really thought through and there is a lot of information presented. The audioguide covers mostly the prehistoric age and is totally worth it.
The new exhibition excels in showcasing single magnificent relics in an appropriate manner, but also manages to explain the connections and concepts behind single artifacts. I left the exhibition feeling richer in many ways.
