One of five Cathar Castles, it was built strategically along the French border with Spain. The castle stands isolated on a high peak with a view of the surrounding terrain, giving it a tremendous tactical advantage over attackers. • We visited Queribus and Peyrepertuse on the same day with our two young children (just turning 4 and 8 years old). Both chateaux were spectacular, and the day was the highlight of our trip...

  • Amazing how they built this. Castle itself is quite small but the views of it and from it are amazing. Definitely worth a visit
  • We did the walk from the town- hard going up on the red route but worth it - disappointing was the price to go up to the castle once we got there . I would guess most of the money goes to maintaining the shop and salaries and nothing for the castle itself
