With a foundation dating back to 102 BCE, Salin d'Aigues-Mortes is a seaside commune surrounded by well-preserved medieval city walls. It's also home to the Tower of Constance, built on the site of the former Matafère Tower that Charlemagne constructed in 790 CE. Despite the town's origins, most of the existing structures were created during the Middle Ages. Explore several structures designed by various monarchs, as well as the location where 45 Templars were imprisoned and tried. You also can visit the Chapel of the Gray Penitents, Chapel of the White Penitents, the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Sablons, and Saint-Louis Square, which contains the famous statue of Saint-Louis. 11 EUR for a trip in… French… only. Most boring 1.5 h in a long time. Could have been interesting if any information was in English. Listen for 1.5 h and not understand anything, driving around salt..... more

Very interesting place and a nice bike ride around but definitely too expensive for what it is. The route is not maintained at all so be prepared for a bumpy ride. Definitely unlike anywhere else I've visited though.

Expensive, especially the walk part which is only like 2 euros less than the train. Otherwise it's a lovely outing. Must book the train in advance ! Even though on their website they say you can buy tickets directly there, lots of people get there and can't buy any because all trips are full ! The kids were very disappointed about that.
