Once used to defend against pirates, Skansin Fortress went on to serve as a British military base in World War II. The 16th-century stronghold lies in partial ruins today, which include the the fort remains, a lighthouse, and several cannons. Here you can find what remains of the British fortress during WWII. There are some of the walls, buildings, guns and lighthouse. Pleasant view of the sea and Nolsoy Island opposite. Nothing spectacular, but well worth the stroll up the hill if you're nearby.

Skansin is very beautiful and has a lot a Faroese history behind it with a small prison they used to use and two rusty cannons it also has a light house. If you visit Skansan please keep it clean so others can enjoy.
