Trip Planner: Europe / Denmark / Zealand / Copenhagen Region / Helsingoer Municipality / Helsingoer / M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark
The collections of M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark tell the story of Denmark as one of the world's leading shipping nations. Follow the sloping bridges down to the old dry dock between Kronborg Castle and The Culture Yard to enter the underground museum. The exhibitions feature a fleet of merchant ships and personal stories linked to the museum's collections from the past four centuries. Interactive installations and games provide opportunities for playing and learning together with others. Experience the role of the captain, or sit behind the desk of the shipping executive conducting world trade in today's marketplace. Many exhibits are expressed using a set design and a film projected directly onto the architecture of the building. They have a good collection. If you are really interested in maritime things then you can easily spent 1 day. If not and if you don't have the copenhagen card don't bother buying the tickets. I would recommend spending more time at the Kronborg Castle and then if you still have time take a walk round the castle, have a nice lunch take a stroll round the old city.
I found this museum to be very interesting, especially the first half, where they tell you about the sailors life. I must say, however, that this museum is oriented mostly to people that doesn't sail or that is not that familiar with sailing/maritime life.
