Create an itinerary including Lobkowicz Palace
Home to the same aristocratic family for nearly four centuries, Lobkowicz Palace is part of Prague's World Heritage castle complex. Confiscated by the Nazis and the Communists in the 1940s, this 16th-century palace finally returned to its rightful owners in 2002. Since then, the building has been home to a private museum housing priceless paintings by Piranesi, Canaletto, and Brueghel the Elder. The museum's prized possessions also include original musical scores written by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, who dedicated three symphonies to Joseph Franz Maximilian, the seventh prince Lobkowicz. An audio guide, dictated by current owner William Lobkowicz, brings to life dozens of personal items displayed here, including Lobkowicz family portraits and photo albums. • If you visit, do take the included headphones and listen to the narrative. Most is done by the current generation of Lobkowicz family members and quite interesting. Frankly, I think this museum...

  • Exceeds my highest expectation. Not to be missed if you visit Prague Castle. The balcony and the terrace cafe have excellent view on the city. The exhibition highlights include original manuscripts of Beethoven’s third and fifth symphony. The free audio tour also covers the city and its landmarks. You can even enjoy a midday classical music concert if you visit on specific days. Highly recommend!
  • Very beautiful palace, with an audioguide automatically included in your ticket. Ticket affordable for students. It's definitely worth a visit: the history of this family is so captivating, and rare objects such as Mozart's or Beethoven's music sheets are beautifully exposed. The museum is very clean and easy to navigate through. You have also access to the terrace where you can have a view of the whole city from above. I recommend a thousand times!!
