Candy Cane Mountains, Khizi

Beautiful colored moutain. Suggest doing a short hike up for panoramic view. Just 219m up. Good to have hiking pole as the soil is loose on some parts. But still a easy short hike. Those coming with car can park for free at the Mikayil Mushvig Home Museum further up where the starting point of the hike is just opposite the road.

There are amazing colored hills that look like a desert on another planet. Going there on a summer afternoon is not recommended as you cannot find water, trees or any shaded area. The soil is loose, clearly of volcanic origin, and products of mud volcanoes are scattered everywhere. We must walk carefully so as not to fall into the faults and caves, washed out by rain streams.
